Why the ONETEEN Model Works

Program Innovation

The ONETEEN Leadership & Mental Wellness Workshop is more than a traditional leadership program. It is a transformational experience that combines emotional intelligence, mental wellness education, experiential learning, and leadership development to help teens create lasting change in their lives.

Designed for youth ages 13–18, the program equips participants with practical skills they can immediately apply at home, in school, in sports, and throughout their communities.

What Makes ONETEEN Different

ONETEEN recognizes that effective leadership begins with leading yourself. Throughout the workshop, participants develop emotional intelligence by learning to understand and manage their emotions, communicate effectively, resolve conflict, build healthy relationships, manage stress, practice self-care, and make values-based decisions.

Leadership skills are integrated into every experience, including public speaking, teamwork, accountability, integrity, service, goal setting, and personal responsibility. This combination prepares teens to become confident leaders who positively influence their families, schools, and communities.

Unlike lecture-based workshops, ONETEEN uses an interactive, experiential learning model where teens actively practice leadership, communication, teamwork, emotional regulation, and problem-solving through hands-on activities, group discussions, coaching, personal reflection, and real-life application.

Participants do not simply learn leadership concepts — they experience them.

The program creates a safe, supportive environment where teens build confidence, develop authentic relationships, challenge limiting beliefs, and strengthen emotional resilience. Every activity is intentionally designed to encourage self-awareness, personal responsibility, empathy, and healthy decision-making.

Emotional Intelligence + Leadership

The Power of the Three-Day Experience

The immersive three-day workshop allows teens to disconnect from daily distractions and fully engage in personal growth. Each day intentionally builds upon the previous one:

Day One: Building Trust and Self-Awareness

Teens begin building trust, connection, self-awareness, and psychological safety.

Day Two: Developing Emotional Intelligence and Leadership

Teens strengthen emotional intelligence, leadership skills, resilience, communication, healthy decision-making, and personal responsibility.

Day Three: Strengthening Confidence and Future Vision

Teens strengthen confidence, create a personal vision, make meaningful commitments, and prepare to apply new skills in everyday life.

The concentrated format creates momentum that is difficult to achieve through weekly classes alone, allowing participants to experience meaningful personal breakthroughs and stronger peer connections.

Power Groups: Lasting Peer Support

Throughout the workshop, teens are placed in small Power Groups led by trained volunteer coaches. These groups provide a safe space for reflection, accountability, encouragement, and honest conversation.

Power Groups help participants:

- Practice vulnerability and active listening

- Develop trust and meaningful friendships

- Process challenges in a supportive environment

- Celebrate progress and personal growth

- Strengthen accountability and follow-through

Many teens describe their Power Group as one of the most impactful aspects of the program because it creates a sense of belonging and reinforces that they are not alone in their experiences.

Parent Day: Strengthening Families

The workshop concludes with a dedicated Parent Day or family celebration experience where parents and caregivers participate alongside their teens. This experience reinforces the skills learned during the workshop while strengthening communication, trust, empathy, and family connection.

Parent Day helps families:

- Celebrate their teen’s growth

- Practice healthy communication skills

- Improve understanding and mutual respect

- Strengthen relationships through shared experiences

- Support continued leadership development at home

Families often report improved communication, increased confidence, and stronger relationships following the program.

Growth Beyond the Workshop

Transformation continues long after the workshop ends. Graduates are invited to participate in ongoing leadership development through alumni events, community service projects, mentoring opportunities, leadership calls, and volunteer experiences that reinforce the skills learned during the workshop.

This continued engagement helps participants maintain momentum, build lasting friendships, and continue developing confidence, resilience, and leadership skills over time.

Developing the Next Generation of Leaders

Many graduates choose to return as volunteer team members and peer leaders, where they mentor new participants, assist with workshop activities, support small-group discussions, and model positive leadership behaviors.

Serving others deepens their own growth while creating a sustainable leadership pipeline in which today’s participants become tomorrow’s mentors. This peer leadership model builds confidence, responsibility, communication skills, and a lasting commitment to community service.

Adolescence is a critical period for identity development, emotional growth, and decision-making. The ONETEEN model meets youth where they are by combining experiential learning, emotional intelligence, positive peer relationships, mentorship, family engagement, and ongoing leadership opportunities into one comprehensive program.

By addressing both leadership development and mental wellness, ONETEEN helps young people become more confident, resilient, emotionally aware, and prepared for success in school, careers, relationships, and community life.

Participants leave not only with new skills, but with a stronger sense of purpose, belonging, and belief in their ability to create positive change.
